i have a childhood friend who grew up to be a civil rights lawyer specializing in gay rights. he kindly checks in with me annually the week of both his mother's and my mother's memorial. as we're both getting up there, i told him that mom always used to say, "this getting older isn't for sissies." his reply was, "not sure about that. i know some pretty tough sissies."
sorry to hear about what happened with your parents. i still remember them as vibrant people. similar story with my folks. i hope i have as much courage as they showed when my time comes. the hardest thing about all this for me is the loss of energy. i just can't get as much stuff done anymore. i try to make up for that by making smarter decisions and keeping focus but with only mixed success.
