I’d like to write for The Truth About Guns again, the website I founded at my desk in Providence, RI. Two reasons I can’t….
The current editor hates my guts. He has his reasons. And I have mine… to let bygones be bygones. Unfortunately, the bygones were gone before they arrived – if you know what I mean. If not, let’s just say no hatchet will be buried unless it’s in my skull.
The other reason I’m persona non grata: TTAG’s advertisers have let it be known that they’d be less than thrilled should the gun website’s pater familias RTB. They’re scared of the truth. In this they’re not alone.
At the risk of earning my book editor’s eternal enmity, I’d like to state for the record that President Biden is as crooked as a country road.
A common sense conclusion based on hard evidence that the mainstream media refuses to contemplate, never mind propagate.
[Yes, yes. Trump. If that’s your concern, please check out my post What About Whataboutism?]
Congress has flight logs, bank records, emails, texts and eyewitness testimony attesting to the fact that Hunter Biden banked some $20m from kleptocrats in corrupt countries, much of it channeled into shell companies controlled by various members of the Biden clan.
When these dodgy characters (the autocrats and oligarchs) paid Hunter Biden millions of dollars, they didn’t do so out of the goodness of their hearts (assuming they have one). They didn’t open their wallets to support a Clinton-esque charitable foundation.
There’s no denying they were buying something from Hunter Biden. If not charity, if not his father’s influence, what? It wasn’t managerial expertise.
According to Hunter’s business partner, these kleptocrats “invested” in “the Biden brand.” Translation: they bribed the Vice President of the United States of America through his son.
The exact nature of the Joe Biden quid pro quo is unknown. Hunter’s testimony could clear that up – if not for the Fifth Amendment.
I know! Ask the President! He was by son’s side on more than one occasion when Hunter met with these deep-pocketed ne’er-do-wells. And a frequent speakerphone attendee.
Quizzing the President on these matters should be job one for any journalist within five yards of the Commander-in-Chief. The press should be clamoring for access. Demanding answers.
Nope. The mainstream media has its collective fingers in their ears on this one. The nets’ Sunday shows gave zero coverage to Hunter Biden’s business partner’s damning testimony to Congress. None.
I’m not saying the press should present this corruption scandal as settled science. Like the Lincoln Lawyer, journalists should assume that everyone is lying. If the press can prove the multi-million dollar payments are a nothing-burger, excellent!
But ignoring the possibility, the likelihood that President Biden’s son compromised his father and thus the United States, is a total abrogation of the press’ duty to pursue the truth, no matter what.
In journalism as in the Catholic Church, the sin of omission is a serious business. (James 4:17: "Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, sins.")
Other than making shit up, burying a story you know is both reasonably credible and potentially significant is as far from truth-telling as you can get.
In fact, it shouldn’t be Congress unearthing Hunter’s greed. It should be The Washington Post and The New York Times. Newspapers that were sanctified for exposing President Nixon’s crimes and the Pentagon’s lies about the Vietnam War.
That was then, this is now. Journalists have transitioned – from truth-seeking crusaders to clickbait-chasing whores. Like the Committee investigating Hunter’s international affairs, the profit-seeking mainstream media followed the money. Progressive politics is where it’s at.
It is what it is. What it isn’t: honorable.
I was educated at Moses Brown School. We were taught to be intellectually rigorous and question authority “for the honor of truth.” What they forget to tell us: the world isn’t an honorable place.
Truth may be the first casualty of war, but it gets whacked everywhere. Out in the real world, I learned that “for the honor of truth” is a personal pledge, not public policy. That’s not the way the world works.
It is my honor to tell the truth. My obligation. Expecting to be supported or recognized for that effort is both egotistical and unrealistic.
And yet my Truth About websites managed to earn a loyal following and some money besides. And here you are.
I’ll leave you with this quote from Mahatma Gandhi (not shown): “Truth never damages a cause that is just.”
If President Biden’s cause was just when he ignored and/or facilitated his son’s campaign to milk foreign bad boys, to subsidize his greed and addictions, so be it.
The only way to know is to ask the tough questions, to anyone and everyone involved. It’s the right, the honorable thing to do.
