as you point out, many people believe in having an authority guide them in their decision making. traditionally, that authority was god. but we increasingly live in a world controlled by people with an atheistic world view. they don't believe in god. they believe in science. to a materialist having ai as the authority makes sense. my problem with all this is that if i've learned anything over the past four years, it's the majority of these people don't believe in science, they believe in "scientism." This Scientism is really no different than a religion and just as fallible. in my opinion, ai doesn't represent authority, it represents consensus, the hive mind. as you suggested, it is our own personal agency that has the true authority. like my ancestors, i stubbornly believe that if i am actually paying attention, "god" or the universe, etc. will show me the way.

Hey Robert, Have you seen the new Amazon TV series,Fallout? It is set 200 years after the nuclear holocaust. Basically, the war was caused by big corporations wanting to make money. Not sure what the whole message of the series is, other than telling us that war is inevitable, scientists should not run government, big business is evil and cold fusion was held back by the military industrial complex. Let me know what you think. Or what Siri thinks!

Oh, and in the future there are no Asians or Jews, only transgender men, interracial marriage, and rich, evil old white men.
